Rods and reels that is.

A coworker posed this question to me today. He has 12 and they are all rigged for different applications, which is how I have mine.

Baitcasters I have 16, not counting my teenage son's cache which I continue to grow. He has seven now.

We also have one each fairy wand.

Also have a few spin cast setups for the real wimps.

Not bad for a guy who hasn't had his boat for a year.

So, how many is too many?

depends on what you are asking, too many at home? too many in the boat? on the deck during a tourney? i guess it really depends on your style of fishing. If you are just fun fishing then you may have way more than if it was a tourney. Ive fished tournaments where i had 1 or 2 on the deck all day and some where i had 6-7.

Never. Lol I just buy as needed or when im bored I think right now I have 25 casting and 3 spinning. Plan on getting allot my cranking rods for different line size and so I don't have to retie my 6xd and soon to be 10xd as often.

i counted the other day, had 18 good ones in my boat, and in the boathouse we have 16 more, some were from the wife's family some of mine from years ago, and I keep a couple in the house. I'm not a good fisherman, so need lots of stuff. if I was really good i think i could cut that number in half and that would still be twice too many

I would say you can't really have too many, but if its tournament day and you have more than 3 or 4 on the deck you more than likely have no clue what the fish are doing. Which is me 95% of the time.

right, when im dialed in pretty good i'll have 4 typically. 2 different style baits rigged on 4 rods, so if i break off i don't have to retie yet, just grab the other.

I mainly do that when fishing alt of rock snaggs, when you are breaking off a bunch,

but most days i have every freaking rod i own out, trying to figure it out.

I've had many a day when i've had 8 rods on the deck prepped, but only used one all day...

to the original question, infinite number, i have different rods for different lakes too...

i have way to many and will buy more soon!!

Since I don't have a boat, I only have six. Not to say I don't have the urge to own more, just can't see loading anymore on the side rack next to me on someone else's boat. I bought highend gear, so I don't even see replacing any rigs for years. Well...maybe. I'm always amazed at many boat owners arsenals.

With that said, I think a will get another crank'n stick, but thats it. Well ok, maybe another flipp'n stick, but that's it. Ok ok, another worm rod, but that is the absolute last setup I need. Really? I know I could use another spinner for drop shot bcuz I'm always using the one I have loaded with Nanofil on windy days.

I can see myself now trying to load my side of the boat with all these rods. Thank goodness I'm a great quick change artist when it comes to retieing, but I could really use another crank'n stik!

A freind of mine fished the Federation Championship a few years ago as a boater, his non-boater climbs into the boat with 23 rods/reels, for a one day event.

I feel terrible bringing 5 a tackle bag and a worm bag.
