My sons foot control trolling motor cable broke, are they hard to fix?

I have the standard motor guide and replaced it on my own. I don't know about the tour but on mine it was pretty simple really.

Tour model is a little more difficult but still not bad at all... PM me and I will give you my cell number. I have replaced many of them and have a few tricks to make it even easier. Either way, in two hours or less you can do it and that includes taking it off your boat....

I agree, not very difficult. You may want to replace that plastic pulley with a stainless one.

Where did it break? mid cable, in the head, or in the pedal? I have a freshwater 80lb, and the cable broke in the head where it attached to the gear. I was able to replace it in about an hour. In my opinion, the way the cable attacehed to the gear wasn't the best design ever, could be improved upon easily...
