Nothing like busting the ice out of the guides on your pole and having to poor your coffee on the minnow bucket to get it open!

I rarely kayak in freezing temps anyways, and I question the sanity of those who do. I am quite sane. I fish in freezing temps because that is when the biggest fishing are easiest to catch. It is just simple logic, not insanity. And as far as the trailer goes, I still say some aluminum top rail would be the way to go. Strong enough, light enough, and galvanized. Oh, sorry. I fish in freezing temps, but mainly from a boat.

Just fill the PVC full of cement and you'll have "nothing" to worry about... Really, I wonder if there is a cost effective substance that you could fill it with that would last a long time without adding too much weight.
My dog's breath smells like cat food...
