Sport bass fishing is where my interest is but fishing is where my heart is. With a kayak you have access to all waters. I enjoy learning about other species of fish and if they are tasty then the better for me.

Learn how to chum with soured milo and/or range cubes. I catfish Tawakoni a lot, and it makes all of the difference. I use a 3 gallon bucket perforated with small holes. There are some bigger holes at the top. I pour the sour milo into bucket, submerge it to about the middle of the water column, and it will attract fish for a few weeks. Give it a good shake, before you start fishing it.

Learn to catch shad too. They should be shallow in the mornings now, and easy to catch. For channels and blues, you don't really have to keep them alive, but a fresh dead bait will work well. Cut or whole.

I don't chumever.

I use fresh shad. Shad fillets were the preferred bait this trip. Find the bait and the fish should be close by.

I'm getting the fever for some Denton Creek fishing.

MR, if you don't mind another tagging along, let me know and I'd love to joing ya'll. I fished DC quite a bit last winter/spring, but usually solo (except for the numerous bank'ers lining the creek). I had good luck with the sandies, but never caught a lot of crappie while out there.

I've never ever chummed either....until this past July!!! A friend took me to his "spot" on Lake Fork and in only an hour and 10 minutes we caught an ice chest FULL of the most beautiful channel cats I've ever seen. Only stopped fishing because the ice chest lid wouldn't close. Most kitties were over 3 lbs. TALK ABOUT FISH FRY!!!!!!

Religion is a guy in church thinking about fishing. Relationship is a guy fishing thinking about God!

After this week, I'm going to be in chicago for at least three weeks working, so it will be at least a month before I could go, but hopefully that will be just about the time the fishing will be starting to heat up. If ya'll go before then, I'll let you share the hotspots you find with me smile

It can be effective for channels but I don't like calling in a ton of little channels when I try to target blues. You'll catch a few channels from time to time as evidenced in my photo.

So I tried to multitask drifting bait on the bottom while doing a little bass fishing and it was a mess. Tangled lines and junk all the time. Couldn't keep my lines tight with the kayak moving different directions "no wind at all" so there wasn't a current to anchor against and stay still. And my rigs liked to get caught up on the bottom when I did drift a bit. It may be my rigging
