After truck, boat, gas, & tackle have you thought about what it cost to be a weekend angler each year? I've done a little math and its quite alarming! amazing what we spend just to catch a fish! its just another addiction we have to deal with. get out a pencil and paper and start running the numbers. you'll be amazed.

I would hate to break it down as a percentage of income.

What is your soul worth? I know without fishing mine would be in sad shape. Money is insignificant next to the enrichment of one's soul that is provided by being a fisherman.

The cost of fishing is cheap......doing it with style gets expensive. This. I catch more fish than the Jones down the street anyway so I have never felt the need to keep up!

Would like to add: "You can enjoy fishing without spending a lot of money. You don't have to own a new truck and boat and burn a lot of fuel. You can keep it simple and still enjoy nature and catch fish." For those that choose to spend lots of money on fishing, that is their choice along as they take care of their family needs first.

I like nice things, so I choose to spend a little more than I have to, but the cost of fishing nowadays is ridiculous for sure.
But still cheaper than my old bar days, it was easy to spend $100-300 a night, 3-5 nights a week.
