My dad gave me his old Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 7000 reel, its at least from 1970. Ive heard these can go for some serious dough. Not really wanting to sell it just curious, anyone know????

I've caught kingfish and red snapper with that reel. Have no idea on a value, but they work well and have smooth drags if taken care of.

Really depends on exactly what model it is ,there have been a lot of special editon reels thru the years. I think in the 7000 size there are some japanese versions that are worth some money and the 7700 morrums are also worth 300-500 dollars. I have 2 of the morrum reels and I also have 4 7000cl big game reels that are considered to be the best 7000 size reels abu ever made. If you had a 7000cl I would be a buyer. There is a website I think its realsreels.com that the guy seems to know a lot about old Abu's so you might check there.
