anyone know a good place to try for striper on the guad and what flies and wt rod i should use

Stripers are very tough to hook or land on a fly on the Guad. It's seldom done, even by the guys who fish there regularly and know all the holding lies.

That said, try big streamers on sink tip lines in the deep troughs. There's one about 150 yds downstream from 4th Crossing (of River Road) and another downstream of Third Crossing where it makes a bend.

Best luck happens extremely early (right at sunrise or slightly before) or on overcast days.

A seven or eight weight rod should work.

I used to use a 6wt TFO Axiom for hybrids back in Ohio, but.. they didn't get more than 12#(at least the ones I caught). I would use an 8wt if I was heading to the Guad. Where mick said is what I've heard from others. I've never hooked up with one, but I haven't been up there in quite some time.

i have hooked on on accident and lost him after a few min. i ill be taking my 8 wt down there and try my luck with some big streamers. thank you very much for your help
