 Jack finally got him an Alligator Gar!

After several years of trying, my 14yr old son finally got him an alligator gar. Even though it was not a monster, at around 60 pounds, it gave him a great fight! We put out some rods with bite alarms and I am telling you, the alarms are the way to go. You are half asleep and them they go off, quite a rush. With Jack being 14, I know these fishing trips are numbered before he gets distracted!

Nice fish and nice kid...
I hooked about a five pound gar Saturday night at Amistad. I had it hanging on my line over the edge of the boat so my buddy could get a picture of it. About the time he was going to take the pic, the fish decided to spit the hook. When the hook let go, the line popped over my head and the hook stuck in my right rear shoulder. Talk about a surprised look on my face in that pic. My buddy pulled the hook after he quit laughing.
