Are there any hybrids in Lake Texoma? A guide told me that there were none. I caught lots of sandbass and stripers there this summer but I'm not sure I could Identify a hybrid if I caught one. I know they don't naturally reproduce like the stripers in Texoma, so do they stock them there? Just wondering.

Negative,

They do not naturally occur in the lake (nor any lake) and it is not stocked. I assume an anomaly could happen and one could be spawned, but I would not count on it. Most of the rumors you here were misidentified fish. I would be hard pressed to find out someone had a picture of a Texoma hybrid..

I will tell you I have caught many white bass there over the 3# mark but never a hybrid in the lake. I catch them quite often below the dam. go figure......

there are a few that are naturally produced. If it were imposssible then the TPWD couldnt create them either. since stripers naturally reproduce in Texoma it isnt too hard to understand that stripers and sandbass COULD spawn in close enough proximity for milt from one species could drift to the eggs of another. oh, and Yes I have caught ONE in Texoma that was not misidentified... not according to the "how to identify species" section of the Outdoor Annual. NEVER say NEVER!

So what's Palmetto bass ??

A few years ago when lakes in okl. We're flooding some hybrids washed over and made their way down to Texoma..
To my knowledge they have never been stocked here..im sure someone will look it up and try to prove me wrong but none in the recent decade for sure..

That year of all the flooding some were caught and I caught some myself but I haven't seen or heard of any since the flood years back in '07

Y'all can agrue it all ya want but they ain't here anymore...people mistake stripers with broken stripes all the time, but I have been personally told by the fisheries biologists that stripers can and do have broken stripes and is nothing more than a genetic defect..kinda like a person with freckles...doesn't make them any less of a person...just one that has freckles smile

Hybrids are stocked in many lakes in both Oklahoma and Kansas. Some of them make it into the rivers and then into lakes that they were not stocked in.

However, if you are targeting Hybrids or Wipers in Texoma, you got a "long row to hoe"

JD is right . Hybrids were common in the spring of 08. Probably came from Lake Waurika. I will se if I can find a pic. Probably a few big ones out there.
