Having the right rod, line size, tuned cranks and technique all play essential rolls in being able to hit 20ft consistently with a crank bait. A Strike King 6XD in sexy shad or chartreuse/blue back is a good place to start. Here's a short video on tuning.. I hope it helps. (p.s. only 2 or 3 out of 5 cranks run 'true' out of the package...so this will come and handy.)

+1 As well as the Rapala dt cranks. Having the right rod, line size, tuned cranks and technique all play essential rolls in being able to hit 20ft consistently with a crank bait. A Strike King 6XD in sexy shad or chartreuse/blue back is a good place to start.

What's up Garrett! DD22 is great but sucks to cast into the wind. Bury the rod tip or go with the kneel and reel. All of those listed above are good. Bring your wallet.

Great topic! I am learning about deep cranks as well. D'Rener Recker keeps schooling me on cranks, and I'm learning as I go. I've got a lot of 6XD, DD22, and some deep running hotlips. I try to keep my colors in shad patterns and chart/blue. I also think I keep the KVD short shank trebles in business with all the hook changing I do! Lol!

Norman DD22s. Favorite color is Lavender Chad, but they have many productive colors.

I change to the KVD Triple Grip Short Shank Trebles on my DD cranks. One size larger than the stock hooks. That means a #1 for the deep baits as they come with a #2. The Owner Stinger round bend trebles are also excellent. Use the same size as comes on the bait as these are a long shank treble. KVD's will boat you more fish if they're eating the bait good. If you're getting more slaps than chokes, switch over to the Owner round bends.

Spro is the best they have the sharpest trebles so you don't have to change out the hooks and they dive great! When reeling them in pause it then twitch your rod and the spro crankbait turns around and looks at the bass and they inialate it!!
Send it!

Other cranks you can give them 10 seconds to dislodge from cover and structure and if I'm not mistaken, the spro won't float up and away.

The 6th Sense Crush 300DD is what I am throwing most these days. They just look and sound better to me than most DD cranks and have been producing.
6XD and DD22 are also must haves.

the right set up and many crankbaits listed of the above will hit 15ft, a lot of people say they can consistently hit 20ft + with a crankbait, well a lot of people also say their boats run 75mph. lol
8-12 lb fluorocarbon line, 7.5 - 8 foot good cranking rod, a good reel with the right torque and a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGG cast and you'll get most down there...

Don't overlook the Rapala DT cranks for big deep divers.
