Well, I went to the Sylvan Beach pier and of course nothing was biting. To make a long story short I made a cast and My rod and reel flew out of My hand and into the water so if anyone snags a 6.5" Ugly Stick with an Extreme reel from Bass Pro Shops give Me a shout. It is probably near Barbour`s Cut by now.

GRRRRRRR

Oh man so sorry, that stinks.

Which side and near which light? The way my luck is I'll snag it for you.

Did you let ownership know? They will hold it for you if it shows up.

I had a friend snag a rod&reel, reeled it in and there was still a fish on the other end.

I've got a Curado on a Waterloo somewhere on the West side of Steamboat Island. Fell out of the boat while we were running, never had a chance.

The question is how long would the reel last being submersed in saltwater? I would imagine the corrosion would set in pretty quick so if it's not recovered, promptly and thoroughly cleaned within a week it's probably toast.

Ive seen youtube videos of old Abu's coming up from Davey Jones' and with a few hours work, and some new bearings....going back to work. I seriously doubt that anything sold with a BPS name on it will do that though, its all chinese junk, made by Plueger.

That is another thing I now use for soap box sermons, if your gonna spend 100$ or more on a reel, Jap Shimano's, Swede Abu's, American Penns.......you cant go wront with those.

Should always carry a pier gaff with you when fishing piers. Not only are they great for gaffing big fish they also work to retrieve rods, reels crabnets, and whatever else you lose over the side.I have retrieved countless rods and reels with a pier gaff. All I need to know is where it went into the water.

If I can get away from the Gulf I have a muley and an elk tag for colorado

I agree a pier gaff is a good tool to have around.
