Does anybody have 1998-2002 18ft boat with swing away tongue backed straight in 20ft garage. I know the motor will have to be down and it will be close. I want a boat to fit in my garage. Wondering which models might fit. I would rather have 18ft boat over a 17ft.

Im considering Champion, Ranger, Bass Cat, Blazer.

Thx...

Ryan

Worst case scenario, you back it in, UN hitch it, and turn it in diagonally.

you will be lucky to get a 17 in, with engine and winch area a 17 is pushing 20'.
can you put up a carport over the drive? would it be safe under one?

I have a 1997 Triton TR-17 (16'10" I believe) with a 115 motor (no jackpalte) and a swing-away tongue. Lengthwise, if I had to fit it in straight, it would take a garage about 19'6" long. My garage is only 18'6" long, so I can turn it diagonal and get it in, but it's still crazy tight. I doubt you could get anything over 17'8" in a 20' garage without turning it. And even then, it would be close. And if you have a jackplate, forget about it.

My garage is 19'6" and my boat is a 16' Alumacraft with 6" setback on the motor plus swing away trailer tongue it has only 1" to spare. I still have to finess it in there by hand but it was doable. Wife parks her Grand Cherokee right next to it.

I put a 180TF Nitro in my garage without a swing away tongue, It speced at 17.5 feet but from the tip of the bow to the outside edge of the transom she was 18 feet all day long....I got it in there with about 3 to 4 inches to spare.......I might have been able to put a 19 footer in there with a swing away tongue. The garage was just a few inches longer that 20 feet, probably 3 to 4 the best I can remember......most of the boats have there overall length and fold away length in the brochures and on the WWW.....OOPS; almost forgot, there was a recess for storage I was able to get the motor in so I was able to push the hull up against the wall.

My 18' Ranger with a 10" Jackplate and a non-swing away tongue fits in my 2 car garage diagonally without too much effort and I still have plenty of room to walk around one side of it.

Done that too but my wife wasn't to happy about it......took her parking space.....I don't want to go there again and its part of the reason I am holding off on a boat. We are going to do a refi on the house soon and I am going to build a 20 x 30 shop......

I had to clearance my drywall a bit for mine to fit. Easy fix, just backed in a little to much one time.

Gas fumes from the boat + the heating element of the water heater = KA-BLOOEY-insurance claim.

Go for a storage unit?
