Benbrook is still falling over an inch a day, and is now more than four feet low. I was on the lake a few hours this afternoon. The first drop of a jig, I caught a chunky 12 incher. I released it. I haven't been keeping anything that small lately. But after three hours of catching nothing but little fish, and remembering that my wife had said she'd cook whatever I brought home today, I was questioning the wisdom of letting that fish go. I finally caught a less chunky 12 incher, and just before I quit, two bigger fish. Some days are like that, I guess. I wouldn't even have had a tournament limit today. But it worked pretty well for dinner. It's hard to believe that's just 3 fish on the table, and one of them wasn't that big.

Hero meal... Fresh crappie
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Nice fishing Bud.I'm thinking about making my first trip ever to Benbrook this Monday. What side of the lake should I be concentrating on?

What side of the lake should I be concentrating on? cborden, I've caught fish in timber in lots of different areas of the lake this summer. I launch at Rocky Creek Park, so favor the upper half of the lake, but I know Pat does well on the lower lake, too. Just keep moving and experimenting. It can be tough for several hours, but if you hit the right spot at the right time, you can catch some nice ones.

Very nice! Do you just filet them? I filet them, then chop them into smaller pieces.
