I recently caught this one nice slab of crappie in a canal, near by a bridge at a local park using bright color crankbait. I have caught bunch of 1-2lb smallmouth bass here, along with walleye and northern pike. There are many other species in this body of water that I haven't caught yet.

Anyways, this is the biggest crappie I've ever caught.

I have never eaten one yet but do plan to do that one day. smile

Is there any way to attract crappies only?

I pretty much catch almost all kind of fishes with my crankbaits.
How can I target crappies only?

Do crappies swim in pool?

Thanks.

a jig under a float works well in ponds
and they do tend to stay together most of the time

Nice fish Ahn...try small jigs worked reallll slow if you are casting...count to different times when it hits the water to cover different depths. You can still catch anything, but you will not attract as many aggressive fish as the crankbait. What city are you fishing in. Welcome to the forum...thought I knew a lot about crappie fishing, but the real fishermen taught me that I was just a rookie...I've truly learned a lot, so don't be afraid to ask questions...10 times out of 10, it's been asked before. lol

Could somebody post pics of these jigs and crankbaits? I usually fish once a year on my annual trout trip, but am trying to get into freshwater fishing and my knowledge is minimal. Thanks for any help!
