Used to catch mudcats in a farmer's pond when I lived in Oklahoma. They would hit on just about anything. Caught several on spinnerbaits, football jigs, and even a few on a hula popper.

Actually there are seven species of Bullhead that are frequently caught by anglers in the United States. There are 4 widely recognized and distributed: The Black,Brown, Yellow, and White Bullhead(commonly known as the White Catfish). There are 3 more in the southeast that are regularly caught, and get about the same sizes, but for some reason they haven't been widely promoted or distributed?? These are the Snail, Flat, and Spotted Bullheads. I believe the maximum size I've seen reported on the Spotted is 13." To bad these haven't been made more available to more U.S. anglers?? Oh, and all are very tasty when prepared right!!
