I don't belong to a bass club or tournament fish but, I try to buy good equipment that I can do double duty with.

I have a Falcon Low Rider 7' H Carolina Lizard dragger 1, that is great for Carolina rig and a lipless crank or spinner bait rod.

I want a stronger rod for frog fishing.
Does anyone have a Carolina Lizard dragger II 7' H?
Or a 7' H Duckett micro magic?
How would they do?

I really like both these brands and am pretty loyal to them.

Not sure on the ducket rods but as far as falcon goes I haven't found a rod stiff enough to frog fish with. However, last year furring a move I broke four inches off my lizard dragger. I took it to a buddy and had him put a new tip on it and what not and now it's a frog rod.

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

The lizard dragger 2 doent make a good frog rod.Ive tried it and the tip is way to stout. The frog will not load up on the rod it goes off to side. You need a frog rod to have a softer tip but still lots of backbone.

I think you guys are right about Falcon LR rods not being good for frog fishing. Yeaitsme has awesome choices but, I don't think I can justify $220-$260 for a rod. Yet, anyway.
Maybe I should enter a tournament once in a while then I could justify spending more.....what do think?

If you want a good frog rod for not much $ then get a cabelas magtouch med.hvy 7.6 flipping stick. This is what I use for frogs with 50lb braid. It has a soft tip and lots of backbone. You can throw a frog a country mile and accurate. You can find them online in the bargain cave often for $69.Hope this helps.

I like a shorter handle on a frog rod -- so my body doesn't get in the way when I'm popping it. I'm assuming floating Spro type baits.

Dobyns makes some 7'3" rods that are popular at the 'Frog Only Tournaments' in CA.

reeltimerods.com...Ron will build you a great rod for whatever type of fishing you are looking at doing. You can even try this rod out before you buy. Call Ron Grantham at 903-450-6400. I know you are loyal to what have been buying, you should be if you have not had issues in the past. If have to look at a different brand, it doesn't mean the brand you have been using is bad. Sometimes they don't have exactly what you are looking for. I hope that you will stop and visit Reel Time Rods along this journey of finding that perfect rod for your future fishing endeavors.

I have a 6'10" h falcon lowrider that does well with frogs. I mainly pitch with this rod though.

I'm a little different on my frog rods i gies, i like a faster tip that lets them suck it under on the bite.

My favorite frog rod , the one i always throw my frogs on is a team allstar 7' mh fast

I've got a Fenwick Techna AV 7'0 MHF. Has a perfect tip, and good backbone. I've caught a million on a spro frog with it. I't s about as perfect as I have come by for frogs. Only problem is Fenwick doesn't make this model rod anymore. I'd love to have a few more of them. Also makes a great skinnydipper and swim jig rod.

Falcon also has a Jason Christie Signature Frog Rod that is split handle and 6'11". It is a Cara T7. I have it and Bobby's Perfect Frog rod which is 7'10". The shorter rod is better for me for the hollow bellies, and the longer one for horny toads. Both of them are pretty stout with soft enough tips to cast easily and so far have proven very capable of pulling frogs out of slop with 65lb braid and a high speed Curado.
