So, I get up at 5:30 this morning and go to lake waco (koehne park to be exact) and catch a few perch for bait. I used whole perch, cut chunks, fillets, heads, and tails, without a single bite. Fished one with a santee cooper rig, one slip sinker rig, one with a bobber set a few times at depths between 5'-10'. Even had one set up with punch bait under a slip bobber. But the frustrating part is that I was watching these big blues hitting the top of the water and splashing around not 2 feet away from my bait. I'm talking at least 20lb fish, and I couldn't get a single bite. Made me want to swim out there and try to grab one and put it on the hook just to reel it in. I packed up before 10 and came home. I guess I'm going to have to learn to throw this cast net and get some shad. I've tried just about everything else with less than occasional success.

All then fancy beers ain't gonna help ya out! Fishing sucks right now but if I were gonna try and find some fish I'd try and hit 25 + water where it's nice and cool with small cut thread fin. Cheers!

The good beer is supposed to go with the catch after it's cooked up! But I ain't catching anything right now.

I didn't even think about trying to catch any grasshoppers. It was a good 50 yards or so out in the water, so grasshoppers didn't even cross my mind.

I would have still liked to reel one in, even if I had to release it. It's still better than nothing. Next time I will definitely put a grasshopper or two on a hook!

I've fished there as well. (With zero luck for cats.) Are you sure they weren't Small Mouth Buffalo? Sounds exactly what they like to do on warm sunny days.

Recent Notables: 40lb Flathead, 30lb Carp, 25lb Buffalo.

Yea I'm positive. I saw a good portion of the bodies and it was unmistakably blue cats. It looked like how dolphins swim honestly. It happened a good 5 or 6 times. I've never seen em do like that before.

Wish I had a boat, but I was banking it. I don't get to fish from a boat too often. Hopefully going to Friday though.

This happened to me on texoma several years ago. They looked liked schooling dophins or sharks. We tried every kind of bait with no luck until I finally caught one on a shallow diving crankbait. It really was frustrating though.

You might get more invitations if you'd get rid of that Eagles logo in your sig and replace it with a star, lol. Just kidding man.

You know, I honestly thought about that a few days ago. I saw how people treat that in the OT section this week! Haha
