I get asked this a lot, and since I'm fairly new, I just speak in generalities. What do you tell people when they ask you the proverbial "How's the fishing?" or "Catching anything?"

Catching anything? single choice
	Tell them no, and try to avoid eye contact
	Tell them how the fishing is going
	Don't say anything, keeping your fishing secrets to yourself!

I would tell me how the fishing was going. Anything to help a fellow angler!

I know how mad it makes me when Im in a spot for hours and catch nothing. With that being said I always tell people who are asking me if I caught anything the truth, so that they dont waste their time or if the fish are biting, so that they have a good time.

Sometimes it's very annoying, U could have someone asking every 10 seconds I just say YUP

Tell em a truthful report and hope someday they will do the same.

OK Dr, when we saw you on Dunlap a few weeks ago did you give acurate report?

If I'm not in a tourney, especially if there are youngsters asking, I always tell people how the fishing is going. Maybe even drop some depth or presentation info as well. In tourneys I generally stick to one word answers unless again it is a non-tourney person or a kid. They aren't out there to compete or get an edge on me, besides of they fish without results they are less likely to continue. I always try to leave a favorable image of tournament fishing in the publics eye.

I give as much info as needed to help folks out(even though I dont like it)...and Only if they are not "meat haulers". If I see a fish basket I will not say a word of truth and try to send them as far away as I can.

Just wish folks would get out and find their own fish and not rely on the labors of others lol

That is why most of us come here! I don't mind at all giving reports and or telling someone when and how I catch them, as you usually get in return what information you've given.

I agree with Team Hooligan. Any baskets or stringers and I don't give the large or smallmouth report. If I got into whites or stripers I'll let them know that. Most folks are catfishing anyway.

depends on the situation/people for me but most don't ask cause I am a girl

I normally ask questions before I give out the good stuff, if I know the good stuff. On big lakes, it's not as important cause they are much harder to fish down. But, even those I am not entirely truthful if I see a fishmonger moving my way. White bass, crappie and channel cats replinish like nobody's business, but other fish can't handle the large numbers of harvest. Especially in smaller waters or less fertile waters. Trophy waters fall under a whole new level of discernment!

For the most part and on average, I give folks the best info that I have available. If I see a basket or cooler full of short fish or illegal fish (Saw my share of short black bass in baskets around the SA and Houston area), you probably won't get any info, or if you do. it might be directions to the GW post.
