I was out on the lake the other day, and I ran out of gas in one of my gas tanks and switched tanks and now the primer bulb will not fill with fuel, its either hard or flat everytime.
When I disconnect the gas line on the other side of the bulb going to the motor and pump the bulb then, gas shoots out of the other end just fine, but when I hook it back up it does the same thing.
I have checked my vents, I have disconnected the water seperator and tried to hook it up directly and it does the same thing. I even filled the other tank that ran dry and tried it again and its doing the same thing, so I know its not the tank itself.
I took off the cowling and checked all my connections and they seem fine, and have even disconnected the fuel line after the cowling and gas will shoot out from every place i disconnect when i prime the bulb. However, again when I hook everything back up it does the same thing.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appecitated, as I know its probably an easy fix, and i dont want to take it to a mechanic if i dont have to. Im pretty handy and can usually fix it if I know what the problem is.
Thanks guys

The fuel bulb itself could be it.

The check valves in the fuel pump on the motor have stuck. Only seen this two times in my 20 years, but it does happen. Cary

Ok thanks Carl I will give that a look.. Is that something I can fix, or would I have to buy another fuel pump?

Didn't see in your OP that you checked the fuel filter under the cowl. They are usually the culpret when you run a tank out of fuel.

I took off the fuel filter under the cowling and looked at it and even pumped some gas out when it was unhooked. Hooked it back up and still the same problem. I will check it out again though.
The primer bulb has done the same thing to me in the past, but I was always able to get it to harden eventually after I switch the tank valve back and forth. This time I cant fix it haha

That depends on how mechanical you are. If it is the pare shaped pump on the starboard side it will be a little more diff. than the square one one the port side. Kits are avalible for both by many companys. Cary
