After getting frustrated trying to snell hooks I of course turned to google for some much needed refreshing. I'm sure most of you use a snelled hook but for those who don't, this is the best video instruction I could find. You will get more hook ups using a snelled hook and if using a circle hook, most of the time the fish will hook itself! After watching this I got 5 nice and tight hooks ready for tomorrow night in about 5 minutes that turn every time. Good luck and I hope this helps someone! For those wondering. A snelled hook uses the line as a hinge which turns the hook in the mouth of the fish.
I thank God for each day!

I don't like that one ^ it will loosen up when you push the line back through the eye. Not a big deal until you have a few extra leaders made up, then go to grab one and it's loose.

I've had that to happen, too. I like to wet the knot and snug it by putting the hook around my tackle box handle and then lifting it off the ground.

The video i showed is pretty simple and wont come loose at all.
I thank God for each day!

So do most of you use a snelled hook for catfish?? It's honestly never even crossed my mind. Will this truly increase my catch rate??

Been snelling my hooks this way for years and spend more time on the water than most and have never had one single hook come loose.

I'd never used your method before, but tried it on several last night. I looked at my "normal" knots, and while it is different, I also think your knot method isnt THAT likely to come undone. I do like that I have less waste tag end when using your method. Using my other method, I usually end up with ~8" of waste tag line. With your method, I only had ~2" of waste. Thanks for posting, sir.

Not sure I really see the purpose of the first knot. I find this method to be as simple as it gets: And to answer the question "why snell": - It's the strongest knot, stronger than a palomar or cinch knot - Has better hook setting power - When used with a circle hook has far greater catch rate

I used Chads method to tie a bunch of them this weekend, and I had no slippage problems. This is an easier means of snelling, and its the practice I'll use going forward. only problem is, you cant tie it on once the other end has been tied.
still, quicker and easier (to remember and to teach).
thanks sir!

No need to add glue, it's not gonna come loose if tied correctly. Don't over think it.
