 74# chanell cat caught at LOP???

Trying to track down a rumor. A friend has been fishing LOP the last couple of ween ends and says they tore up the catfish. He also said someone caught a 74# chanell cat and that it was taken to the Athens Fishery place. I can't find any mention of any such story. Is he telling a tall tale or is there news of a record channell caught at LOP?

That would be a world record if true. There was a blue cat caught on LOP that weighed 74.5 lbs.

I'm the guy that caught it. It was a blue and is now currently the lake record. Ron at TPWD told me the website will be updated the first week of next month. I'm happy to answer any questions via PM

no it was caught on trotline...stumps are thick in LOP so i'm not so sure you'd get a big fish like that in the boat on rod n reel...not saying its impossible...just tough.
