Spent a few hours sightfishing for carp yesterday. I caught several, but lost my 2 best fish after they ran through some matted algae. I wasn't too worried at first, but in both cases the added drag of the algae that clumped on my line and leader was too much for the small hooks I had used for my flies.

I've been fishing several areas. Pretty much been staying within a hour or so drive from home lately. The Brazos, Trinity, Bosque, Nolan & Paluxy Rivers and the lakes nearby most everybody is familiar with. One of the great things about carp is they are pretty much everywhere and generally not pressured.

Why hate carp from a river? They are a bit more challenging to catch IMO, but they fight like demons. These were some of the best fights I've had in a long time. Blazing fast runs, deep into my backing every time.

Great report Lusca. I really like that first picture. Catching carp on the fly must be lots of fun.
