Had a customer yesterday specifically ask me if our product is made here in the USA...wouldn't purchase if it wasn't. Seems as though this issue is becoming important. Like to hear some thoughts on the subject.

It depends. In cars you might think you're doing the American worker some good not buying a Toyota when many of their plants are operating in the US and employing tons of Americans while another "US' company has plants in Canada and Mexico.

But in the case of fishing tackle where you have rod companies like St Croix or Big Bear completely owned and operated here in the US it does mean something to support them.

BassCat is another US company that operates almost completely benefiting the US and its workers.

Does this question really need to be asked ?... I guess you need to take a stroll down to the unemployment office and ask the folks in line, or wonder over to the local VA hospital and ask them boy's-n-girl's how they feel about "MADE IN AMERICA"... trying real hard not to have a political explosion here... God Bless America & our Troop's !!!

I know my grandfather wouldn't buy anything not made in the USA- I think most of us would rather support companies the employ American workers and produce American made products- But I understand that the import business creates jobs as well-

I notice you have an Evinrude which is a foreign owned company and also some Lowrance stuff is made in Mexico. I would have figured by your words you would not use anything but American made. I am all for American made if its the best quality and value for my money. I work too hard to not use my money the best I can.

This is a very controversial subject. I confess I have fallen weak and do not strictly require all purchases to be made in America. This thread is at risk for becoming a problem. However if anyone is interested in trying to focus more on American made products this link may be of some assistance.

I agree but didn't want to say anything.

That's why this thread will be difficult. I would imagine most keyboards are made overseas. It is what it is. For now.....

Thread topic was/is intended to gather thoughts pertaining specifically to fishing products (probably could have worded it better) politics aside. Personally I try to purchase USA made as much as possible...by doing so I honor my two sons active USN.

I would prefer to use products made in the USA, but I'm not going to go out of my way to procure them, nor will I pay more for it just because it is.

Ditto.

Many times "made in america" really doesn't mean what you think. Sometimes, it just means SOME of the parts are made in america while some aren't and the finished product is assembled somewhere else. Even some craftsman wrenches are not being made in America any more. Buyer beware.

My point is that its way too tricky to be 100% Made in America. Some companies use "made in america" as a selling point even though they are not being 100% honest about the start to finish manufacturing of the product.
