Thinking of installing a 8' Talon on my 2010 Skeeter ZX 225.

Looking for pro's and con's on mounting location, I would prefer to keep my emergency ladder in place, so I am thinking of mounting on the starboard side. However i do have my LSS transducer with a saver mounted on that side, not sure if the bracket will fit without moving it. Anybody already intalled one on a skeeter with the same setup, would appreciate feedback.

Also what options do I have for brackets.

I have mine on the starboard side. No problems at all I have a Ranger though. Not sure how it could mess up your transducer the bracket on mine holds it 4" back of the transom

Should not interfere with your ducer, the bottom of the talon should be about 4 inches above pad installed.

I mounted it on the port side to distribute weight. I wish I had put it on the starboard side so I can easily look back at it to see that it's up. I didn't hook up the alarm wire but am going to this weekend after I dragged it up the ramp when it was in the down position a couple of weeks ago.

On the bright side it's now so sharp it could go through Kevlar.

This is my Talon Install with the TS&S. Worse case scenerio you could cut down the back of the shield behind the bolt but I don't think you will need too.

Aren't all boats console & steering on starboard-side, so I can see a port-side Talon mount better. Rather than it being directly behind me.
IHMO.

If you have some basic mechanical skills can these be installed by yourself? Also Talon vs. Powerpole??

Jackplate installs are very easy just bolt them up and go. Sandwich brackets require motor to be removed and might want a dealer to do that.
