do you have luck catching 2 lb bass and slightly bigger on small dry flys? and where can i find a good quick connect for dry flies, if there is any. im talking like a snap swivel thing made for fly fishing. Also is there a plastic case that is made for flyrods, im wanting something to store it in while i head downstream in my airboat. it has several hundred bolts that stick up holding the uhmw on so i have to be careful where & how i put my fly rod in the boat

Popper work good, havnt had any luck with small dries for bass, but the panfish eat them up. As for the storage case for the rod check these out.

Cabela's has flies as well, poppers to the tiny dries that you mentioned, nymphs, streamers etc..... I wish I could tell you it is cheaper to tie your own, but I'm just not sure if it is or not. It always seems that you always need something else to tie a new pattern. Probably have 4 or 500 dollars worth of tying materials and tools.

The easiest flys to get started with for bass are:

Poppers
Woolly Buggers
Clouser Deep Minnow

Poppers are best at dawn and dusk. Clousers if the fish are aggressive and woolly buggers to swim slowly.

Generally. But you know how that goes. It is a good place to start though.

I'm sure if you invited a few people along with you in your airboat on the brazos they would be glad to show you the ropes of fly fishing.

Most of these guys on here talk a small game, but really know there stuff. I've learned a lot from this group. Try to fish with as many of them as you can.

I'm pretty fond of my 2" PVC pipe rod cases. They're tough, cheap, and classy. Well, two out of three ain't bad. If you go that route, be sure to drill a small hole somewhere in the pipe to allow for temperature and pressure differences. Otherwise, you'll need to drill the hole with the rods in the "case".

I too was thinking about pvc. Haven't decided yet
But that would b fast/easy.looks like I still have a lot
Of learning to do. But its going to be a fun process.
I bought tiny flys, I won't catch many big bass with these
Tiny hooks. But I oughta give the longears, and Kentucky
Bass a hard time id imagine

What weight rod do you have? We might be able to make some suggestions with regard to the size of more bass specific flies.

As far as a rod case, I went to Academy and bought a cheap Plano rifle case (about $16). I is molded plastic and I can get a couple of rods w/ reels in it. Most of my rods are all 4 piece and they fit fine. I do have one 3 piece rod and it fits also.
