Live perch an lil carp suckers and i dont use jugs just r&r yea i know right were you are talking about gotta go aways down river best if you got a kyak i have caught some big ones there it real shallow for the first few hundred yards then drops off deep 10 -20 ihave got big yellows outta there pushin 40-50 and have seen bigger the water gets real clear after a rain an the settimeant clears im talkin i got a 9 foot paddle an i can see bottom but i cant touch it with the paddle if your lookin for a good trip take the lil boat or the kyak an put in there at 971 and when you hit the T go left you end up at 29 at makins crossing a few places where you gotta get out and walk it but all and all you can float it in my 14 v bottom with 3 guys we gotta get out but one in a yak would do good i would think that river holds big bass to biggest ive seen is 16.5 my dad caught an that was the smallest of the three pm me and ill tell you the the good holes were they sit but have a vehicle waiting on you at 29 at makins crossing you wont have time to make it back up
Stink that is pretty awesome sounding and the fact it's so close blows me away. I am from Lubbock and it's right in the middle of some good fishing. We used to say "Hell yeah, you can drive 300 miles in any direction and be on some good fish"
To be honest I think the biggest cat I have ever caught would go around 10 pounds or so. This is estimated. I have caught a ton of them 3-4 but those 30-50#..... Holy Krap! You would see me smiling like a kid who just reeled in their first fish. I'm serious. I know for the ACAT guys they would be like.......meh. Whatever.
We really need to talk about this spot. The idea of being about to just float down the river sounds like a pretty good day to me. The clarity you describe is unreal. I am used to being in rivers that look like chocolate milk.
I am feeling a LOT better today and I can finally walk pretty well again. Was nervous as heck yesterday about this. I hope I am good to go this weekend. Will hit you up about those good holes. Thanks for the reply. Very exciting to me.

Hope the rest of you are out getting your arm broke today if you are on the water!
