Try the Anahuac Wildlife Refuge. Free and lots of good wade fishing.

I would second the Anahuac NWR.

But I have had better luck in that area fishing up the east side of Trinity Bay. Start with the Fort Anahuac Park area in the southern part of the town itself. Then drive down Bayshore Rd looking for places to get over to the bay, all the way down to Oak Island. Just be aware and respectful of private property. There is one spot down that road that I always hit if I am in the area.

Caution - Ike dropped a lot submerged debris in this area. So fishing the bottom can be tricky in spots.

+1 on the Anahuac Wildlife Refuge. I've made a few trips down there over the past couple of months. We've done pretty well on the reds and black drum.
