I've been fishing for a long time now and have never seen one. Just a few questions for those of you that use them: What are the purposes? How do you fish the rig? Most important question...DOES IT WORK???

It imitates a school of shad. Throw it out and reel it in. Pretty simple Yes it works. The best is yet to come. The hotter it gets so should this rig. Look on the classified section for Bullet rigs. $15 to your door.
Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state. But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

I figured it imitated a school of fish, but you just cast it like you would say a spinnerbait? I'm just confused on the whole idea. I mean it's smart, but don't the baits get tangled?

I will be putting on the remainder of my rigs from my trip to Lake Guntersville for $12 each to your door soon. I live in Illinois, so they will not do me any good here. I had the opportunity to learn from the best on how to fish the rig, and found that not only did my rig catch fish, it was increadibly durable. I only used a total of 4 rigs for a 9 day trip. There are some secrets to fishing it effectively. Find out where the bait fish are located in the water column and keep the rig below the bait fish. Thats where the big ones are located. You might have to let it sink to the bottom, and then reel it in slowly but you will want to experiment with retrieves and adust to what the fish want. Fast, slow, or somewhere in between. Make sure you are matching the hatch, use the right size and right color of baits on the back of your rig, thats what creates the frenzy. Also, when you get the rig hung up, don't try and rip it out, get on the other side of the hang up, and just ease it out, 9 times out of 10 it will just pull out easily. There's my tips for successfully fishing the alabama rig. You'll see my ad on line today at Texas Fishing Forum under "Umbrella Rigs for Sale". My user name is jhcombs1, and I wish you the very best in fishing your rigs.
