Went out this morning knowing it would be windy, and it was a wind tunnel. Didn't get a thing. Put in at Jordan unit and stayed pretty close and moved north up shore. Probably should have gone up further to Walnut or Brussel creek. May have been able to get out of the wind.

So there you go amateur fishing report of RR. Still feel windblown!

Jeepers don't feel bad. With the wind we had today it made it tough and rough. We fished till 4 and managed 14 in the boat, but no size at all. Couldn't do the things we wanted to. Our best bite actually turned out to be really shallow. But just some bank runners. When we got out of the wind we didn't get bit. We had to figh it to get bit.

Danny is right. We caught a little more than 20 on Saturday. Almost all of them came off points with wind crashing into them. When we got in calm water, we did not catch any fish.

The wind you guys have delt with the last 2 days has been a little strong. So I feel for you on that. But next time, definately fish the banks and points with the wind blowing into them.

Wind on Roberts is always twice what they say it is or will be. Just count on it being that way and you prepare for it or stay home and read fishing mags.

Question for those who fish of have fished Ray Rob through its duration.

I remember I guess all the way up to last summer people called it the dead sea.....there was hardly any grass.... carp everywhere....etc etc. I suppose this was result in drought and a 15 ft water fluctuation few years back that killed everything.

I also remember people talking about back in the day you could chunk a T-Rig on the grass flat behind wolf island and flat where em out all day.

I guess my main question is given Ray Bob is not that old compared to many great bass lakes in Texas, if the water level stays the same, does the lake have any chance now to become the great bass lake many people thought it would be and stay that way?

Yes. But the water level will never stay where it needs to be.

No. Our % of florida bass isn't and will never be high enough to be a lake like Fork. Last survey they found 0 pure florida bass and only 37% of the bass had any florida genes in them.

A little bit ago Ray Roberts got a Share a lunker and I was reading on the share a lunker site that any lake that donates a fish gets a certain amount of thier stocking for the year the fish was donated that are not only purely Florida strain but only share a lunker genetics. I am not saying this will make Roberts world class, I am just saying that maybe at some point it will have at least some Florida hybrids at significant levels.

It wont be the "next Fork" as it was billed because of the reasons listed above plus one other detail... the rediculous population of Sand Bass.

Well..we got nothing. Being brand new at this I was pretty lost out there. Also novice Bass boat owner/driver, so I had to find spots out of the wind. Which makes since with what you said, out of the wind, we got nothing, and couldn't take it in the wind. We saw one other boat in one of the coves jut North of the Jordan unit. But they were gone pretty fast. Positive look, I got pretty good driving the boat in the wind!
