If anyone is looking for a non-boater partner, I'd like to fish some of these, starting with this one. I'll cover the entry fee as my share of expenses. I live in SA and Sunday tournaments work well for me. I'm 27 with plenty of fishing experience but I'd really like to learn more about Dunlap and some of the other lakes. (Plus I actually like fishing Canyon lake and these guys actually put on a tournament there). If interested email me at jonathan dot magee at gmail dot com and we can figure out if we got enough knowledge between the 2 of us to fish some of these.

I just want to get out in front of a few questions that I know are coming because of the conditions on Dunlap the pst few months.

Yes, there is enough water now, 1.5' low, and only a few places that are skeg killers, the most notable is the left side of the lake heading down stream just after the deepest hole on the lake. It is about midway down just after the lake doglegs to the right really hard. STAY RIGHT. There are bouys out there now thanks to GBRA. Up at the powerlines about 3 turns from the 35 ramp, it is ok to run or idle that area, just don't try to get on plane or set down in that spot if you have a bigger boat. Outside of that the channel follows a very predictable course.

NOTE: From just below Schumanns beach down to the dam is now a NO WAKE ZONE. There are bouys across the lake and it is very obvious. This is awesome and should help the bass have a hiding place from the constant wave action during the summer.

The rumor mill says that the lake should be back up full in the next week or two, keep your fingers crossed.

Also, the guys I spoke to that got out there this week between the weather say that they caught em'. Fishing is awesome and the water temp isn't fluctuating as much as you might think. Fish are pre, mid and post spawn all at the same time right now, so pick your poison on how to fish it!

So it looks like fishing on the "Lap" is on fire, BUT we are going to be getting some rain in the next 24 hours that will slow it down. HOPEFULLY it will calm down in the next week and the fish will be ready for us next Sunday the 26th.

Still no word on whether or not they will be gong to full pool by the 26th, but none the less we are going for it. Big boats have been launching there all week all we have to do is be careful.
