Will be going to Amistad for four days first of March. Never been to the Big Bass waters of South Texas. Looking for techniques, line size, bait selection ideas. Flying private, so really want to minimize the weight and ammount of tackle to bring.

it will be different in a month, but top baits this week at Amistad were...
1. spinbaits 2. jerkbaits - smaller fish 3. rattle traps 4. DD22/6XD 5. senko
swimbaits, a-rig, jigs, and drop shots also caught some fish.

I just got back from there. Talked to tons of pros fishing the everstart series and I fished saturday. Key lures this weekend were spoons, senkos, spinner baits, traps and deep diving cranks. Got a few good bites on jigs but the wind was just ridiculous. A few of the pros were pulling out 5-6 limits up the rio. Heard good fishing reports up the rivers rio and devils. Water temps are a little bit warmer up there than in the main lake so a good amount of bass have been caught off the beds already. Hope you have a great time! I didnt do so hot but still had a great time, one of the most gorgeous lakes ive ever fished, as well as some of the most beautiful looking bass.
