Who uses one of these?
What are the likes and dislikes of it?

I have one and it's a love hate relationship...but I would have to say I love it way more than I hate it.

I fish deep a lot, I don't like beating the banks, I am a structure fisherman. If you like beating the banks though, it has plenty of toys built in as well.

What the terrova w/ ipilot will do:
1. Hold you realitvely close to your spot, even in fairly heavy winds, but in gusty winds, you will have to deal with it swaying left and right occasionally.
2. Guide you down a bank at a consistent speed going in a true direction even with a side wind.

What the terrova w/ ipilot will not do:
1. It is horrible at keeping you stationary when there is emergent vegetation all around you or stumps. It's really not the best trolling motor for fishing tight to cover where you have to make quick decisions. It's not built for the spawn.

All that being said. If you want to fish in conditions like the above...get a power pole and you will be fine. I would have to say my fishing has drastically improved due to the terrova as I am able to stay on humps, brush, etc well enough and focus on fishing, even in the wind...instead of fighting the trolling motor.

Can cords be ran down the outside of the shaft of it (with zip ties), such as for a hydrowave speaker & an external transducer or does the design not allow that?

Yes, cords can be run down the side, but you've got to make sure that you leave enough slack at the top so it can avoid binding when the motor twists around. My transducer cable went out because of this.

I love mine but be careful when you get it mounted. If you dont watch it, it will stick out too far forward and hit the roller when you launch.

To all that has one.

I used a piece of PVC Pipe about 2 inches long and slit it lengthwise. I drilled two holes and fastened a tie wrap through the holes.(one hole for the tie wrap to go in and the other hole for it to come back out) You can slip the piece under the control head because of the split in the pipe and it pops right over it. Then you can fasten your cables to the tie wrap using another one and it allows them to free spin without tangling.

Hey California Texan, do you have a picture of your set-up?

The Hydrowave cable with Terrova seems to be a problem with the ways I have tried.

By the way.... I agree with other that like the Terrova. Way more time fishing and less time fighting the trolling motor. My leg used to get sore from using the motor guide foot control all day.

The spot lock feature is awsome on a windy Fork day!

Not a huge fan of mine. I wish I had my Maxxum Pro back. It has some good features, but it just doesn't suit me and my boat like my Maxxum did. Anyone wanna trade.....?????

Just replied over in a General Equipment thread. Here it is:
http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...lot#Post7104080

Also over you can route Humminbird transducer cables(Lowrance cables are too big) using the groove in the shaft like so:

Yes. I have some pics right now, but my photo bucket is giving me a hard time.

I can e-mail and if you would post them, it would be great.

The pictures I have do not show the holes for the tie wraps, but you all are smart enough to figure that part out.

I will get more to show the full set-up next weekend.

can someone post the ones I have currently?

Thanks for the info, especially Bass J and Little Gazoo. You've answered most of my questions pretty well . I don't fish tourneys any more, have a 6 & 8 yr old and when i can get em on brushpiles, humps, or channel swings and them and Mama are catching fish, it's good to be me banana

Hi CaliforniaTexan,
I know this has been a while, (I just registered today) but on January 28th, 2012 you responded to a bunch of folks in this forum about how you used a piece of pvc pipe to route the transducer cable. I am in process of adding a Lowrance LSS-2 and a 80/200 puck TD to my Terrova trolling motor. You were having trouble with photobucket at the time and were not able to post the photos in the list of posts I was able to see. If you still have those photos I would love to get them. Thank you for your help.
