Who uses one of these? What are the likes and dislikes of it?

I bought one last year. I have a love/hate relationship with it.
Pros: Spot lock, record track, auto pilot (favorite), easy to stow & deploy, hand held remote (don't have to use the pedal).
Cons: Mount sucks bigtime, hangs too far over bow & gets stuck on my front roller, spot lock isn't great in a strong wind (blows off more than 5ft), can't put my Lowrance si ducer on the motor, too slow in stumps & sticks, noisy control/shaft motor.
If you only fish open clear water it's great, if you fish stump fields it's not going to be your friend. I'm not sure I'd buy mine again since one of the lakes I fish is full of brush.

I've been using my Terrova for about a year now also. I use both a remote and foot-pedal, mostly the foot-pedal.
The remote I use for the spot-lock, auto-pilot, cruise & the record/retrace a track. Now the remote is necessary for spot-lock, cruise & record/retrace a track. The foot-pedal can also control auto-pilot & constant speed. If the remote battery dies, then goodbye to spot-lock, cruise & record/retrace a track.
The Terrova foot-pedal I use for maneuvering and it will not have the feel or speed of the Fortex's cable-driven system. That said, I can still control the boat in stumps of Lake Fork, but I try to plan a little more ahead. My complaint would be the Terrova's control cable wrapping. I do feel the Terrova is much nicer in running it in reverse and backing the boat with its foot-pedal.
I do have a Humminbird 998cSI side-scan transducer installed on the Terrova's motor and am able to run the transducer's cable up the shaft's groove(Lowrance cables are too thick), so lucky there. It's great when fishing a creek, weed-line or docks. You may have interference issues, but Humminbird can fix it.
My boat is a Triton TR-186 and the Terrova can hold over a bridge or road-bed. Gusty winds will cause it to drift more than 5ft, but within 10ft which is half my boat lenghth. Place the boat directly into the wind and coast just beyond the spot, and set Terrova's spot-lock as the boat stops.
Terrova's mount hangs out too much past the boat bow and can be damaged so I think the removable mount is necessary. I have one steep-inclined ramp it is necessary on, but on most ramps it is not necessary to remove during unloading/loading. But now that is with my Triton trailer and front roller setup, so other trailers??? A Fortex like mount would be better.
I do recommend the 60" shaft. Mine is 60" and still is, but Minnkota Service or dealer can shorten to 54" and the warranty will be good.
I would buy another Terrova.

I fish a lot of open water and love mine. I love the remote, spot lock, and auto pilot.
Cons, 1. I think the TM batteries were up to the task. Does not hold a charge as long as I would like. They are Wally World batteries I had for a year or two on another TM. I am looking to upgrade my batteries for the spring. 2. Sticks out over the bow a bit much, I have to be careful when I launch and put the boat back on the boat or take the TM off all together during that process. 3. Setting the TM on a certain GPS speed with the auto pilot or following a track, is a bit of a challange on windy days. The wind blows it off course so the TM increases speed till it gets back on track.
Overall I love mine. I would by another

I got the conversion unit for christmas. I fish mostly sandbass and in the past don't use a trolling motor much. I got it for the anchor lock. I will find fish and use the anchor lock to verify that there is fish there. Then I will anchor up and fish them. The part about sticking out too far that is all the minnkotas not just the I piolt. The part about not holding or keeping on track that just is the trolling motor is not large enough. I like mine if for nothing but the anchor lock. Johnny

I'm getting major interference on both units...my front humminbird and my 1198 on the helm when the ipilot is running. What is the fix?

You will need to contact Humminbird Support at 1-800-633-1468.
I have a 1197cSI(Console) and a 998cSI(Bow) and each has its own side-imaging transducer. I was have interference on the bow transducer mounted on my Terrova. Check the following:
Check inside the Terrova's head that all connections are solid and that the fuse is good.
The Humminbird's should have separate power source than the Terrova. I ran separate wire direct from my cranking battery for my HB's.
I connected a wire direct from the cranking battery negative to one of the trolling motor negatives.
But I still had trolling motor induced interference, so I worked with Humminbird somemore. Then we did the following:
I disconnected everything from the 998cSI bow unit except power and transducer and still had interference. So Humminbird send me a power cable choke for the Terrova.
But still had interference, so repeated the above and disconnect everything again and my interference stopped. And it was from my GPS puck and Hummminbird send me a cable with a choke for the GPS.
Problem solved(for me).
Interference can come from many sources including your wiring, your motor, your connection-box and your trolling motor.
And your interference is on both Humminbirds so is different from mine(worse?). And mine was when I was just running the Terrova motor with the bow-mounted transducer.
But work with Humminbird Support(or your dealer if new boat).
Good luck and hope it works out easy.
