Any y'all had any experience with line counter reels? Do they work? Do they work with braid? Can you cast a slab with them?

Not the best at casting. Yes they work with braid. We have four Clarion line counters. Okuma brand. And the are very good for the price. Okuma makes more expensive and less. These are about the middle. I use the 204's and the 304's.

Clarion 204D, 230/18, 16 oz.; 304D 420/20, 21.6 oz. Sounds like you're loaded for bear.

I have use the Diawa Accudepth. Pretty decent for the price. You need to keep them fully spooled to be accurate though.

I used the attachments bass pro sells, they worked fine for what I was doing. When dead sticking I was able to bring the bait right to the fish. I did not buy a line counter reel because I heard they are no good for casting and sometimes have internal issues with the counters and is costly to repair so I went with the 10 dollar line counter at BPS.

Just keep it a little sporty, and count it down yourself. Or not.

I have four Daiwa Sealines LCs for trolling, not for casting, but jigging a slab spoon would work, also bait fishing works too.

The Daiwa sealine is an awesome reel. I started with 40# braid power pro, but switched to Berkley Big Game mono @ 40#, cheaper and does the trick, I use a 17# leader of 7-8' of flouro carbon.

Precision trolling, you need an LC reel, but you can also count the times your reel's line eye goes back and forth. Just pull out x amount line use a sharpie mark it and watch your reel as the line goes out. A line counter.

+1 on sealines. Cheap Saltwater reel that will last forever, and does everything perfectly, if one needs a counter.

I have a Shakespeare line counter that attaches to the rod. It will not work with braid.

All of these line counter reels seem to be calibrated to line of a particular diameter. I wonder if they can be adjusted for lines of differing diameters.

Sure, you can count the number of times your line moves across the spool to measure, but it's a good way to run over someone.
