I want to try and get a guide for late April or Mqay and would like to get some recomendations for guides that you have used on Beaver Lake. I only know two people that have used the same guide and they both have different views of the guy, so I need some feedback from those with past experiecnce with guides on this lake. Thanks

I used Ed Chapko.

I fished three days under bad conditions. Only caught
one quality fish , but that is fishing. Beaver lake is
known for quality not quantity.
My trip was timed wrong , We were fishing after a severe , mid march cold front. The day before , Ed fished some yankee that had never striper fished before, put a 40lb fish in the
boat. That is wrong on many levels. smile
Spent 3 days slow trolling live bait. Freezing our butts. smile Ed worked hard, and I would certainly use him again.

Good luck

Thanks for your response, this is what I'm looking for. I understand weather can change everything and sometimes the fish just don't bite. I just want a guide that is willing to do what it take to try and locate fish and if we can't find them or make them bite then that's fine, atleast we tried. I don't want to pay a guide and have him complain all day about how tired he is due to being on the road for two days getting bait for my trip and then just throwing ballons out in one area for half the day waiting for a fish to come along.

Feel free to send me a PM if there is something negative about a guide you would rather not post for everyone to see.

One bit of advice... make sure the guide you choose will be the guide that you fish with. I did a trip up there last spring and the guide had one of his "helpers" take me. We fished 2 spots the whole day without a bite with the "helper" calling for advice throughout. I understand fishing up there can be like that but we did not mark anything decent to justify doing circles in those 2 spots all day. Plus, his bait was smaller than I use on Tawakoni.

I just went on a trip with Ed Chapko last November and caught 7 stripers. The smallest was just over 10 lbs and the biggest was just shy of 20 lbs.

This was my third trip with Ed and he is the guide that will try his very best to find you fish even when the fishing is tough. Even when trolling, he would cast a lure non stop!

Word of advice, the best time to hit Beaver lake is early April since that is the best time for top water action. Either way, you will have fun at Beaver lake!
