Was bass fishing today without any luck; so i tied on a worm and bobber, and in a half hour had caught 4 nice channel cats. One of them already had an egg sack beginning to exit its back end. They where all fat with eggs about five feet off the rip rap in three feet of water.

Some fish retain eggs all year long, it has nothing to do with spawning. It's not uncommon to find catfish with eggs far outside the spawning period.

I catch carp with fist sized egg masses in them throughout the year.
