Anybody have a HOT or very Spicy recipe for chex mix. I know the ingredients (chex, pretzels, nuts, etc.) I just need your input on how to make it spicy.

The easiest way is to use a bag of Snyder's Buffalo Wing flavor pretzel pieces instead of plain pretzels. That by itself adds a tasty little zing to it.

If that's not hot enough for you shake some Slap Ya Mama or cayenne pepper on it.

Forgot about the Buffalo Pretzels. I will add those next time.

Had a friend send me this and I'm trying it right now.

Sweet and Spicy Chex Mix

Ingredients
1 stick melted butter
1/2 c. melted bacon grease
4 oz. Chipotle Tabasco sauce
3 tsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. garlic powder
3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
4 c. Chex cereal
4 c. Honey Nut Chex
2 c. Goldfish crackers
2 c. mini pretzels
1 sm. can honey roasted peanuts
1 sm. can deluxe mixed nuts

Directions
1. Mix first six ingredients together in a bowl with a spout.
2. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a very large mixing bowl.
3. Pour liquid ingredients over cereal mixture, tossing well to coat all the pieces.
4. Spread mix in a shallow layer in large roasting pans.
5. Bake at 250 for 1-2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes until slightly darkened and crispy.
6. Pour on paper towels and allow to cool.
7. Keeps well in Ziploc bags or tightly closed containers.

Use a habenero sauce instead of tabasco

I used the recipe above but added 2 oz. of Habanero and cooked the sauce in a pan with a ghost chili added. Turned out like what I was looking for. Hot and Spicy with a sticky sweet flavor.

Thanks for the ideas. Next time I'm using Buffalo Pretzels. I like these things by themselves.

I'm finishing up the last of my "trash"..what we call it, that we made over the holiday. Brand new recipe for me, and the best and easiest to make. And yepper, its got a big KICK!!

1/2 box Chex, all three kinds, wheat, corn, rice

1 1/2 sticks melted butter, we don't use margarine

small can, 6 oz. of roasted peanuts, we used the redskin type

Saltlick Dry BBQ Seasoning, start with only a couple ounces! Its easy to add more, you can't take it back when it gets too hot.

Mix the Saltlick with the butter and drizzle it all over the Chex and peanut mixture, drizzle...stir....drizzle....stir method.

Bake it slowly and stir often in a 250-300 degree oven...AFTER it cools down, the flavor comes alive!
