Sitting here trying to figure out what to fish this year....Somebody please explain FLW's logic on this, to fish the Cowboy division, just driving to the tournament locations I would drive 3,382 miles. From my house to downtown Los Angeles...and BACK is only 2,800 miles, so I could go to LA and back, and then to St Louis in less miles. If I prefish the prior weekend I drive 6,800 miles, that's over $2,200 in truck gas at today's gas price, plus $1,100 in entry fees, $1,000 in hotels, another $700-$1,000 in boat gas and oil, I had the second most winnings in the region last year at $6,400 (top was $6,500), I have another good year and I come out maybe...maybe $1,000 ahead. What are they thinking?????

It will be difficult for most to prefish the weekend before, unless living close to the lake.

Yeah the cowboy division schedule sucks... Pretty much always has for me. That's why I went with BWS last year. I wish they would split Texas and Louisiana and have two separate divisions for each. Just way too many miles for me to drive. Although I hate it cause I do love some FLW
The road goes on forever and the party never ends...

What are they thinking????? I'm almost certain this question was on the SAT when I went to college. It's also is why I went to a state school! Seriously, it's obvious they were thinking that most guys wouldn't sharpen their pencils like you did! Congrats for thinking through a tough business decision!

I'm hoping to give it a shot this year. If I'm able to get off work for the tournament, I'll be able to go down on a Wednesday or Thursday to get in some practice.

Just trying to help Ken - you could fish the Okie Division and save yourself 1000 miles (or 2000 miles prefishing the weekend before) and get it down to an unreasonable 2260 miles. The Cowboy Division is more than 2300 miles for me from Houston. Apparently, those of us in Houston and Dallas are not supporting FLW enough to justify a BFL TEXAS trail.
Prediction - BFL Cowboy 2011 is not going to go well for FLW.

Neal I looked at the okie as well, but I've never been on 4 of the 5 lakes and last time on Grand was the Bassmaster in like 94-95 that Tommy Martin won. Still 2,200 miles there plus pre fishing so over 4,000 miles so I guess they at are saying that they have no interest in trying to draw the fisherman in the 4th largest metropolitan area in the US. Shreveport is the place to be especially since the regional is just down the road on the Red at Natch. Guess they were trying to get all the fisherman in the 130th largest metro area Shreveport...

Going way down to south la is not going to be fun but im still gonna do it but i won't have as much $ invested like the boaters tho. At least we r gonna go to pines in september and imo still beats the weekend series i might fish a few of the okies as well

BFL definitely needs to make a northern and southern division in Texas. For a one day tournament who wants to spend all the gas money, hotels, etc. The payouts just aren't worth it.
I'm fishing the Everstart series and it could be a lot better too. Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn just about every year. What is wrong with the lakes up here in the north Texas area.
Just about every large tournament series I have looked at goes to the same places. What's up with that???

Ken I feel your pain. I love fishing FLW tournaments but the cowboy div schedule does suck. I was looking at Okie div but with not being familiar with the lakes it is a disadvantage and for the payout It was not worth it so I when with BASS OPEN div only three tournaments but the pay is good
