I've got a starcraft v hull and I'd like to get replacement carpet in the bottom. Up front the previous owner still has some outdoor carpet with some regular carpet pad underneath it. My guess is that would get pretty nasty/rot when combined with water. The boat is stored on a trailer, so I can tilt it up and pull the drain plug when stored to drain any water. Assuming I do that would that keep the carpet pad intact?
I just want the carpet to have a little more substance than the thin carpet as it's bought.
Suggestions?

never noticed any boat with pad under them. if you want a more plush feel then just get a high grade high oz. soft carpet. the cheaper you go the thougher it will feel.
The purpose of a warrior is not to engage his enemy in a test of strength or skill, it is to kill him.

Yeah, I figured it was a little out of the ordinary.
I was thinking maybe some of those thicker door mats with the heavier rubber bottom. You can get them pretty big.
