what is a good way to fish caddo in the winter time? from the state park to the main lake, including the main lake.

I have not been since last fall but I fished the lake alot for a 4 year stretch. When I was there we pretty much always fished the main lake. We would put in at potters point on the La side and fish the area close to the ramp and were always very succesful. If I was putting in at the area around the state park i would run close to where the river meets the lake and fish that area. I have done well there also. The lake is supposed to be low so the main lake may not be the best place to run around and try to find fish. Also there are usually alot of white perch and white bass being caught in the channel as well. Just look for all of the boats stacked up and you will be in the right area.

This probably won't help, I know it didn't do much for me, but a local told me to fish the trees
the fisherman formerly known as Blu-Ranger....

this time of the year the fish will not be on the trees in the open lake much they should be around the grass beds the best places in the lake are if you can find pad stems mixed with the grass the time to fish the trees is in the spring most ppl do believe the same as the local said just fish the trees that is why so many people struglle on bass in caddo

Ain't much to fish on Caddo. Its 4ft low. Not safe to run at all either. Not many launches to use and the ones u think u can use will tear ur boat trailer up quicker then [censored]. There is a few so called safe spots to run on the lake but u wouldn't believe the stumps in boat lanes right now.
C boat lane from Big green break to A boat run I wouldn't even think bout. Alligator bayou I wouldn't run. K boat run is not good. A boat run between K and Martha Crossing u got to idle. Stumps in front pf Buzzard bay in A boat run. Jeems bayou have to idle cause of stumps under water in lane. Government Ditch is too shallow to get thru. There is no Tuckers or Old Folks playground so to low water. S curve is super shallow.
That is part of it. And of say 2 launches usable. One at Morningsport Bridge. And state park. But State Park is shallow once u get to boat lane. Now lake has come up 6in or so but still not safe.

6 inches is 1/8th of the normal depth lol like I said earlier I have not been but if it is 4 ft low I would stay in the main chanel around between the shady glade area and the main lake. I have never fished further up the river towards the state park so I have no advice on fishing in that area. The area in the main chanel where it meets the lake can be real good I would think you should be able to get there.

It's not worth it right now unless you truly know the lake really well and even then it isn't worth it. It's not even worth in a mud motor boat to be honest with you.

Just ask all the guys that tore there boats up from hitting stump in middle of boat run! I know the lake better then most think I do. I wont even go cause its that unsafe.

If thats the case put in at the ste park or the bridge and put the trolling motor down and start fishing. I fished out of a bass buster for awhile and you would be suprised how many times the fishing right by the ramp is as good as anywhere.

I was told I could get to johnsons from the state park with no trouble.... is that possible? I have been to johnsons and I have been 3 miles east of the state park and it seems ok... never been any futhur between the 2 places... is there dangerous areas between the state park and johnsons?
