The 2 of Us Northeast Division will be holding our Early Bird Tournament at Lake Fork on November 5, 2011. We will be doing registration begining at 5:30am tournament morning at Pope's Landing. Tournament hours will be 7am - 3pm with weigh in being at Pope's Landing as well. Entry fee is $110 which includes men's and ladies' big bass. Pay back will be 75% with 1 in 4 places paid. Slot rules will be in effect however I will only weigh fish below the slot that are a minimum of 14".
Men bring your best lady out to Lake Fork and catch some bigguns. FISH OVER THE SLOT WILL BE WEIGHED.
We hope to see you there.

Kevin and Debe Hukill

Just to be sure i read this right, you are not going to weigh in fish over the slot?

Fish over the slot WILL be weighed. Fish under the slot will need to be at least 14" just like any other tournament. Sorry for the confusion.

Sounds like a good tournament but why would you not weigh in any fish under the slot? That leaves less than a 2 inch window for unders! I will fish it if they change that.

I was wondering the same thing, especially when your tournament rules state :

" 8.FISH LENGTH/LIMITS: Each couple may weigh in five fish per day, minimum length 14 inches (unless the lake length varies from the statewide), measured on a flat board, mouth closed, tail compressed. No pooling of fish between boats. Only largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass will be weighed. Dead fish penalty is 1/4 pound (4 ounce) per dead fish. Penalty will apply to total weight only. No more than five fish can be brought to the scales. A sixth fish may be held temporarily in the livewell, for culling purposes only.Fishing cannot be resumed until culling is completed. There is no penalty for short fish, but the short fish will not be weighed. Official board is the Pro Rule. Ladies Big Bass must be marked with a cull ring, clip, etc. Unmarked fish will not be considered for ladies' big bass award."

If I am reading the rules correctly, Lake Fork falls under that caveat.
Any input or information you could provide would be appreciated, as this would have been mine & my wife's 1st tournament together. I was looking forward to it , and frankly she's been talking about it for 3 days until we found this post. We are also excited about fishing the 2012 trail.

Please let us know if there will be a change back to the Lake Fork slot rule. I am positive that we, and probably quite a few others would fish if the Lake's slot were allowed.

Thanks again for hosting a great event like this that allows couples to share the sport of fishing combined with the thrill of the tournament environment, and the opportunity to harrass each other for losing the big one! bang

Right, and read my post again. On lake fork a bass does not have to be 14" to weigh it in.

He stated in his original post that he would not be weighing fish under 14". Regardless of what you can weigh-in at Fork, he is not accepting anything under 14" at his tournament.

That should answer your question.

Not trying to be argumentative, but my earlier comments were directed at the conflict between the written "rules" & the stated rules.

Simply a question posed to the original poster.

Thanks for the input though.

According to the "2 Of Us" written rules, ANY fish outside of slot should be weighed. What was stated is understood but the rules are written for a reason.

I have fished tournaments on slot lakes in the past and I have always hated seeing people weighing in fish that were no bigger than their baits. Our tournaments are designed to allow couples to fish together and have fun. Rule changes are allowed to be made by the tournament director as long as they are announced at registration. In this case I have chosen to keep the minimum lenghth of fish to be weighed at 14" just like at any other tournament lake we fish in our division. Rule # 1 states "These rules are set for and must be strictly followed by all contestants. The decision of the tournament director will be final in all matters. Any rule changes will be announced at registration."
In this case the rule change was posted well before registration. In spite of any disagreement with this rule change, we hope to see you in the morning, come on out and have fun and I honestly hope everyone catches a lot of 14" and bigger fish.

Thanks,
Kevin
