Hey yall,

Does anyone fish Oyster Creek regularly in Sugar Land?

Ive been wanting to wet some lines there, but I cant find parking areas nearby on Google maps. Im willing to walk a distance, but don't want to risk having my truck towed.

Can anyone help?

There's a good looking spot I found with the ACK app but have yet to be able to try it out. I still can't figure out how to "ping" spots on google maps lol but type in "Creekbend Dr, Sugarland, Tx" and to the left of where Point A is set there's 2 docks or walkways that go out into the water so you can access both sides of the dam and it looks like there's a large parking lot across the street. Hope this helps and let me know how you do if you make it out there, I'd like to try it sometime/

Cool, thanks

I may be able to try it out Saturday afternoon.
If I do, I'll post a report and have it marked on the bank fishing map.

You can also fish the park at Venice St. I fished there once for carp and buffalo - ended up with a 25 lb blue cat on a piece of corn. There was another guy fishing there with shad who I didn't see catch anything.

PB Common - 26lbs
PB Mirror - 7lbs

I used to live down that way... never tried fishing the creek but I saw gar in it pretty regularly at the bridge entering Oyster Creek Park on Hwy 6.

There are several city parks in Sugarland & Missouri City that are stocked. Took my son to American Legion Park several times for trout in the winter.

I saw that marker on the Google bank fishing map, but didnt seen any place nearby to park. You know of a place, or am I able to park on the curb?

It's basically a sidewalk next to the water. I parked across the street on the side of the street. When I showed the neighbors a picture of the fish I caught, they invited me back anytime.

Ah okay thanks.
Keeping my fingers crossed to see if I can make it this Saturday after work.

If I do make it, I'll be taking both rigs with me.

From seeing the maps, Im assuming the water is often muddy or very stained?

When I was working at Fluor...there were lots of fisherman that accessed the creek by parking along Creekbend drive & walking to the bank. I never bothered to see what they were catching or if they caught anything...but there were enough people around there for me to think that they must be catching something.

Okay thanks.

Hopefully the cold front we got now wont affect the fishing too badly.

Went out there for 2 hours in the mid afternoon.
Im guessing it was a tough day to fish (very high pressure, clear skies, and the cold front that just passed)

I got a few nibbles and was able to hook and land this 1.5/2 lb bass. This was all the action available :(, but its better than to go empty handed.

I didnt get any bites on the catfish rig.
The creek bottom is very soft and grassy.
There's also little to no heavy structure around, so its best to cast parallel to the banks.

I got to admit, the banks are really clean.
There's also some place nearby to launch a Kayak, since I saw a few people paddling around.

Nice job. Which location did you end up fishing?
