Wind out of the east, fish bite the least
Wind out of the west, fish bite the best
Wind out of the south, blows bait in there mouths.
Wind out of the north, STAY HOME

Yeah... just spent the past week fishing mostly ENE winds. Sure, fishing could have been better, could have been a dam sight worse. My best advice, don't let it keep you off the water.

isn't that the truth. So, I'm here in PortA with a SE wind. I guess that means the bait will blow into their mouths the least?

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

I grew up with that saying. I'm sure its just self fulfilling. Proficiency, but I have found it to be more true than not.

I think the old adage has to do with changing weather and barometric pressure changes because of fronts... At least that's what I'm betting on. fish

I grew up with this same "proverb" and will have to agree with BassMan I think its more to do with changing weather than anything else. Also, in my own experiences, ive found that it holds more true to freshwater fishing than to salt. The wind tends to be pretty steady from a couple of directions on the coast
