Just spent a week in Rockport, no sign of red tide. Mustang is clear as well. Did see a report on the CC eve news that the algae was present in parts of CC bay, but no bloom had occured. Red tide is generally associated with warm water temps, so it is seldom a problem in the later part of Nov.

Red tide showed up every winter in front of Texas A&M-Corpus (Class of '08) and last for a couple of weeks. Red tide kills fish, causes your skin to itch if you swim in it, and makes your throat burn some when you breathe it in. It was annoying walking around campus coughing all the time. Red tide usually happens between October through January, but can be around in Sepetember and February. More info about blooms here: Red Tide

Thank you for that clarification about the time of year Neumie. I humbly offer my retraction. Not in the habit of spreading bad information.

I am currently in Surfside Beach, have been here since Friday. Haven't noticed any sort of red tide effects. Friday there were some dead mullet on the beach, but not many and they looked like they had been dead for a while.
