The chicken also tastes like it was fried in old oil.

I want their green beans recipe. My aunt Jewel used to make them exactly like that but I didn't ever learn how she did it.

+1 and their biscuits.

The one in Roanoke has always served good food. Never had an old tasting oil flavor. The one in Sanger has catfish.

One of the worst chicken fried steaks I've ever had, and I was expecting alot since I've always heard nothing but great things about their cds. My opinion.....way too thin, little to no seasoning, and tasted to me like one of those are chicken fried soy patties.

Hey Kattelyn, You can get real close to thier green bean recipe by using 1 can of cut italian green beans, dump in microwavalble bowl then add about 3-5 dashes of liquid hickory smoke and about 1/2 teaspoon of sugar .Then warm them. Try them i think you will like them

Okay, I have to ask since I've never met anyone else with an Aunt Jewel! LOL

Mine was actually my great-aunt. Did yours live in Cranfills Gap or Clifton by any chance?

Nope... sorry. I wish though. I love that area out there. She was Jewel Morgan... lived near Ninnekah, Oklahoma. Born 1909.

She was my mama's brother's wife. They had a bunch of sheep and cows and goats and a couple working border collies that were the smartest I've ever seen. He could tell Emmy "Go bring the milkers" and that dog would go get the milking goats and bring them to the pen.
