A couple of week ago we met up with Jarrod and Kathy Vaught of Santone Lures at Lake Fork. Kathy gave Pake some skirt material and some jig heads. He has been having a blast messing around with them. Last night my wife and I were at our bathroom sinks, brushing our teeth and getting ready for bed, when Pake walked in with something he had been working on. He held up a package with a jig in it and says “What do you think about this, daddy”.
Here is a picture of his project.
The packages reads “Funes, 2.99”

I said FUNES! What the heck is a FUNES! His Momma looked at it and said the same thing. Looking puzzled, Pake turned the package around and looked at it and said “Daddy!......It says finesse. FU….NES!" He’s only 7 and is in second grade, but bless his heart, he’s trying. It may have been one of those moments that you just had to be there and see the expression on our faces to get the full effect but we (including Pake) laughed hard for at least 30 minutes. Anyway I thought it was a cute story and wanted to share it.

Lol, good looking jig, maybe you should market it as a funes jig by Pake. I've bought baits with stranger names.

Awesome story. Having a 7 year old myself, I totally understand.

They tell them to sound out the words. That's what he did !!!!

A "FuNes" jig, awesome. He is off to a good start on the jigs. Make sure you get him some strands of green pumpkin, g/p candy and purple.

Great story, and not a bad looking skirt. Just about any color they might want in that one! I might have to make me a few before he patents it!

I'm not old. My bobbers just float a little lower than they used to.
