This is probably apples and oranges, but has anyone tried the legendary beef rib at Black's in Lockhart? It comes attached to a huge chunk of beef--what we would call "prime rib" or "ribeye," I would suppose. I doubt anyone who weighs under 300 lbs could handle more than one. It tastes like prime grade beef to me, and raises the bar to a new level. Only thing, it's way too expensive for ordinary fare. Yes I have an it is AMAZING!! anybody try chasin tail bbq in lake dallas? I have been to chasin tail in lake dallas... Not to bad, not great though. Black's in Lockhart is the best, period. Not sure about the "best", but it is pretty dang good. We stop their when we are on our way to Port Aransas all the time. I didn't see anybody mention North Main BBQ in Euless. I can eat some BBQ and it gets a few bonus points for being all you can eat for like $8. Also its BYOB. We also hit up Coopers in Mason when we go deer hunting. Again, not bad, but not amazing. The location in Mason doesnt seem to be very consistent. Brisket will be super fatty one trip then super lean another time. I have an idea to settle this debate. Everyone bring me some sliced brisket from your favorite BBQ place and I will judge. I have a very sophisticated pallet.
You cant teach greatness.

...Sonny Bryan's...more like acceptable or decent. On the contrary Ox190... you absolutely cannot beat a Sonny Bryan's chopped BBQ beef sandwich and a cold beer for lunch at the "The Original" on Inwood in Dallas. The mere history and ambiance of the place is enough, but they also do make some mighty fine beef sandwiches!

North Main BBQ in Euless is now $15 a plate for all you can eat includes drink -no tip. Remember they are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The BBQ is good. A little variable though. Sometimes it gets dry sitting in the hot pans waiting for customers. The sides are nothing special. I did say the BBQ is good.

Is that the one that has the sonic style drive up? If so been there on the way to Nocona, and brisket sandwhich was tasty....
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Anyone ever had the BBQ at the original Uncle Billys Brew And Que, in Austin? In Barton Springs area, I believe?
Never been there but definitely want to try it. Of course, they also brew their own beer, which I have had some of, and it was great. Several of their beers just one some medals at the Great American Beer Fest up in Denver this past weekend.
Great beer. Wondering if their que matches up?

For those going to Coopers in Llano, do yourself a favor and go to Laird's BBQ instead. He's in a little house on Hwy 16 just before you get out of town. His BBQ, especially his brisket is much better than Coopers IMHO.

I would say that Spring Creek is not anywhere near the best. My neighbor gave me a gift card for my birthday, and I ate lunch there this week. Over $10 for a chopped beef sandwich, serving of coleslaw, and a drink. The beef tasted like it had been reheated, no flavor, and the BBQ sauce tasted like coffee. Once I use up the gift card, they won't see me in there again.

I'm not trying to be a smart arse or nothing, but for me it's got to be in my own backyard. I don't know of any place within an hour that's any better, but I sure can name a bunch that's a lot worse.

I'm sure it's not the best around, but has anyone tried Fat Cow BBQ in Lewisville? It's pretty new, and in a strip mall, but I'm always willing to give it a chance.
Haven't been there yet, was just curious if anyone had tried it.

I like Tyler's, Henks and Crazy Larrys in Amarillo.
Probably no thing such as the "best"; everyone has good days and bad days. And no one is going to agree on how they like their sauce anyway. Fun to read about new places or places I have tried.
I wanted to try the Mt Zion Church in Huntsville when I worked there but the times I went cold never find them open/cooking.
