Get a 6 to 7 ft and learn how to throw it in the yard. Those ez throws are easy but nowhere near what It's like to throw a larger one. The technique is totally different and will handicap you if you ever want to switch to a larger net. Do a search for cast nets or go look in the catfishing section. Lots of threads over there on learning to throw cast net and where to start.

I defer all cast net questions to either Parker or Jackie Kennedy.
It ain't easy making it look easy.

Get a real net without the add on and rings and learn to throw it. You will be much happier in the long run. There are many ways to throw a net and just because one does not work for you doesn't mean another will not. In the long run, you will be much better off if you just learn to throw a regular net the right way and avoid all the gimmicks. Here is a tutorial I put together a while back that shows you another way then thrown in the video. I have worn out my shoulder and throw heavy nets so the one arm gig does not work for me. http://www.learntocatchcatfish.com/how-to-throw-a-cast-net

I have a 5' (radius) net and a 6' (radius) net. This is the way I throw from the standing position. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTtGWcpf88gQuick and simple, and I never put it in my mouth.
RealBigReel I don't go too fast but I go pretty far.

Use your hands and ignore the gimmicks. Buy a 6' and practice in driveway. If you buy a 4' you will just wish you add bought the bigger one in a few days.

I have an easy throw net I will give to someone if they want it. Piece of junk. I tried and tried to throw that thing and can't. As mentioned learn how to throw a regular net and be done with it. I use a technique very similar to mel's.

Best advice is above. Get a 6' or 7' good net and learn to throw it. If you don't and throw a 4' you will only catch shad in shallow water. and only a few then. There are several u-tube video's online to teach you. Pick out one, and if it doesn't work for you get another one. One of them will fit you.
