went out 7/25 on the New Buck for a 12 hr trip. only about 50 people on the boat so it was great. little rough on the ride out, ending up riding for 4 hrs out before first stop. they said don't fish the bottom/wreckage, but i wasn't fishing for little b-liners... i hooked up with something huge that played tug with me for about 2 minutes before he wrapped me up. went back to same depth, hooked up again! same dam thing. figure it was a large grouper. couldn't get hooked up again before it was time to leave that place. chased a few shrimp boats and several sharks and kings caught. huge ling pulled out also, they said 80lb, wasn't my fish... bang
had a good trip overall. caught fish all day, my son caught some fish and had a shark break off. video at end .can't wait to do it again.

Looks like a great trip! Why where those fish hanging on the boat like that? No ice?

A lot of the party boats do that when they get close to port so they can advertise on the way to the dock, and makes it faster at the dock cuz fish are already sorted. I would prefer to leave mine on ice to last minute.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Actually, only the boats in Galveston do that still, and I think it's just the Galveston Party Boats that do that. I don't know any other boat that does that. It ruins the quality of the meat. I used to hate that about that boat, and I always made them leave mine on ice.

Last time I was at SPI party boats were doing that. You are correct that not all boats do. Maybe one of our South Texas brethren will chime in on whats happening down south.
