A lot of the party boats do that when they get close to port so they can advertise on the way to the dock, and makes it faster at the dock cuz fish are already sorted. I would prefer to leave mine on ice to last minute.
Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

I would prefer to leave mine on ice to last minute. Actually, only the boats in Galveston do that still, and I think it's just the Galveston Party Boats that do that. I don't know any other boat that does that. It ruins the quality of the meat. I used to hate that about that boat, and I always made them leave mine on ice.

Last time I was at SPI party boats were doing that. You are correct that not all boats do. Maybe one of our South Texas brethren will chime in on whats happening down south.
