I am looking at buying a boat with this motor on it. Looking for some input on the motor. Mercury 250 EFI Pro XB Input will be appreciated from anyone who has owned one or knows anything about them.

also looking at one with a 225 EFI Mercury. What do yall think about it. Which one should be better, more dependable? Both about the same age. 2000-2001

I still have my 2002 250 PRO XB and love it....it really isn't bad on the fuel if you stay off WOT....it does take 93 gas, but it is a hot rod...

No doubt, I would go with the 250XB. But that's just me and you don't have a choice of a 300hp. What kind of boat is the XB on?

The 250XB is on a 20' Cobra and the 225 EFI is on a 20' Ranger

In my experience XB stands for Xtra Balls. That engine has 'em. And a cobra is a better riding boat than a Ranger. Narrower up front but imo the Cobra is better.

i'd choose the pro xb over the EFI. the XB is a suped up version of the standard EFI.

Thanks for yalls input, I ended up buying an 03 Skeeter ZX250 with a Yamaha Vmax 250. I have had a couple of yamaha's and have loved them, so I decided to stick with a yamaha.
